MIND NEVER FORGETS

Recently, I came across some old photos from my days at Claremont school.  As an alumni member, I receive the yearly alumni magazine, and always enjoy seeing old photos of past Claremont pupils.   Members are encouraged to send in memorabilia of their school days,  so one day I dug out a few of my old faded photos, and spent a while going through them...memories of my school days flooded back, and I began recalling the names of all my class-mates from so long ago.  There were 26 girls, and I found I could remember 25 names...just one eluded me.   As hard as I tried, I simply couldn't place that last name, and this began to annoy me!   How come I could remember 25 names, and not 26?  I felt frustrated, to say the least!

Then I recalled that when our elder son was at University, he kept a little card on his desk printed with these words:   MIND KNOWS THE ANSWER.   During his studies and exams,  he found inspiration just reflecting on the fact that if  "all is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation", as Mrs. Eddy tells us, then Mind knows the answer at every point.   I believe that when one of Mrs. Eddy's household remarked that our Leader sometimes forgot things, Mrs. Eddy exclaimed,  "Mind never forgets!"

As I studied the old photo of my class-mates, I saw quite clearly that I didn't need to struggle to remember the name of my friend...I accepted the fact that if Mind knows, then I know what I need to know when I need to know it.   I put the photos back in the drawer, and went outside to do some gardening.

A day or two later, while I was out driving, this girl's name suddenly and clearly flashed into thought...it was as if someone had spoken her name out loud in the car!   With the full list of my class-mates' names to hand, I emailed the photos to the Alumni secretary, who was delighted to have them for possible future publication in the Alumni magazine.

Although this was a small and perhaps trivial experience, it taught me that we can trust Mind in every situation to furnish us with the ideas we need, when we need them.  As a much-loved hymn assures us,  "He knows the angels that you need and sends them to your side, to comfort, guard and guide".
