Many years ago a friend said to me “when you’re praying for yourself and the world each day, remember to know that you and the world are under the control of only one spiritual universe and NOT under stars and planets” – or words to that effect.
When I remember, I do it. But these past weeks with the increase in world disasters those words have brought me up short and I’m now back on it!
So I wanted to share some thoughts I’ve found helpful in my ongoing study.
In the Webster 1828 dictionary the definition of “disaster” is “To blast by the stroke of an unlucky planet; also, to injure; to afflict.” Isn’t this what we’re facing? We appear to be an “unlucky planet.” with worsening climate change, increasing fire and floods - pollution – global and economic turbulence etc. People are helpless to know what to do.
So I decided I needed to deepen my understanding of Mary Baker Eddy’s chapter “Animal Magnetism Unmasked” in her book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
Also in the bible and her other writings references to universe, planets and stars. I find the following helpful and am discovering so much more. Mary Baker Eddy writes: “The planets have no more power over man than over his Maker, since God governs the universe, but man, reflecting God’s power, has dominion over all the earth and its hosts.” (102:12) “And there appeared a great wonder in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.” (560:5)
She also writes “ The spiritual idea is crowned with 12 stars … These are the stars of rejoicing.” I’m knowing that mankind isn’t “UNDER other influences” but is “ON TOP OF” because of his spiritual birthright of DOMINION as the reflection of ONE GOD.
